When you arrive in Sri Lanka, you will be able to find one of our representatives from Next Travel Sri Lanka at the Arriving Lounge of the Colombo Airport paging your name. Once your identity is confirmed, you would be guided to a wonderful hotel settled amidst the charming surroundings of Negombo. The time you arrive at the island won’t be an issue, since there are no special plans for the day. However, the sea breeze and the dazzling sunsets in this coastal town are sure to surprise you. Besides, if you arrive early on the day, you can choose either to rest at the hotel or to sightsee around Negombo. Overnight stay will be at a beachside hotel
The journey of this tour officially starts on the second day, as you reach one of the most ancient cities of the country, which is none other than Anuradhapura. As you might already know, this ancient city holds historical significance being an important kingdom in the past. Hence, the exposure to the island will start with undeniable historical details lying within the ruins and sculptures of Anuradhapura. Lives of the kings, the establishment of the kingdoms, vintage architectural systems, the lifestyle of the ancestors with the present status of the city will be focused throughout this city ride. Besides, you have the evening hours to relax and get ready for the next day. Overnight stay would be at a hotel in Anuradhapura.
Following a flavourful breakfast at the hotel in Anuradhapura, you will be traveling towards the Northern part of the island. The city that we would be visiting is Jaffna, which is the main city of the Northern province of the country. As you might already know, it is a city that holds significant importance for the Hindu culture. Most of the monuments are associated with their culture and tradition. Along with that, the city is popular for some noteworthy landmarks as well. When you reach there you can stop by Jaffna library, Jaffna fort, Nallur Hindu Kovil, old buildings and ruins, and Jaffna fish market. If the day remains, you can also have an evening walk on Jaffna beach. All these places will tell you something about the history, the diversity, and the prosperity of the island in an indirect way. Overnight stay would be at a hotel in Jaffna
The fourth day is to explore the Eastern coast of Sri Lanka. You will have breakfast quite earlier in the morning and leave Jaffna heading towards Trincomalee to spend the day. The attractiveness of its beach and the coastline became the reason for the attraction back then and it remains the same still. Once again this visit will give you exposure to the Hindu culture while encouraging you to have a walk around to explore the unique scenic beauty of the surrounding area. After reaching the hotel you can relax a bit, and chill out around Nilaveli beach, which is a known ideal place for a quiet evening. Besides, the city tour will also provide you with some amazing exposures to the diversity and times of colonization of the island with the ruins and the structure of the city. Overnight stay will be at a hotel in Trincomalee.
After some valuable sightseeing and a worthy exposure to Sri Lankan history, this day calls for some wildlife experience. So, following a delicious breakfast, you will visit Fort Fedrick where you witness the flocks of country deers rumbling around the place. The other half of the day is for a visit to Pigeon Island. To reach the destination you have to have a boat ride. Snorkeling at Pigeon would further magnify the delight of this tour if you are especially interested in water sports. Further, if you are visiting there between March and August, do not forget to include whale watching on your list, since this is one of the few places on the island to have that experience. After two enthusiastic days at Trincomalee, you will have the last night at the hotel bearing new hopes for the next day
As the tour continues, you will be moving more into the country to explore the unusual beauty of this island. The first stop for the day would be at Dambulla to visit the Golden temple. It is a place with historical significance where you can witness carvings, wall paintings, and statues. Then, you would be heading to the village of Sigiriya. Yes, you guessed it right! This is the area where the Sigiriya rock fortress, which is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is located. Overnight stay will be at a hotel in Sigiriya.
The seventh day of this tour starts with climbing up to the Sigiriya rock fortress to witness all the beauty and significance of the place. The other half of the day is dedicated to hiking to the picturesque Pidurangala rock which stands behind the Sigiriya rock. The entrance of Sigiriya gives the best and easiest path to Pidurangala. Further, it will only take 45 minutes to reach Pidurangala at that point. However, if you are weary you can either have a tuk-tuk ride to the bottom of Pidurangala rock. The journey up to Pidurangala is not an easy walk, with the footwork through narrow footpaths amidst the forest areas. Still, it is worth a try, since you can witness some aspects of wildlife and biodiversity via this journey. Besides, the summit view will give you some fresh experience with Sigiriya lying in front. In fact, it is one of the well-known places for photography in Sri Lanka!
Experiencing the charm of the coasts and the grandeur of the historical heritage, you will be moving to central Sri Lanka, to witness the beauty of the hill country. In fact, the visit this day will take you out of the typical Sri Lankan environment, culture, and atmosphere with the surrounding of this spectacular mountain town, Nuwara Eliya. This is the city where you can find the coolest atmosphere in the country. So, following a small rest amidst the relaxing climate, you can have a walk around the bordering tea plantations in the area in the evening time. And during these visits, never forget to taste varieties of freshly brewed cups of tea as well! At the end of a day amidst comfortable coldness and smooth wind, you can stay overnight at a hotel in Nuwara Eliya
The day starts with a delicious breakfast at Nuwara Eliya and then you will be reaching Nuwara Eliya railway station. Yes, you are to experience one of the most wonderful experiences on the island, the train ride from Nuwara Eliya to Ella. Of course, it is one of the most beautiful train rides in Asia. The journey lays amidst the huge tree platoons, green-filled hills, abandoned bridges, cascading waterfalls, and widely spread tea plantations. Hence, the journey is worth having if you are visiting this tiny island. This journey will last for 3-5 hours, still, the memories that it offers you will last forever in your minds for sure. However, after reaching Ella, one of the enchanting mountain towns in Sri Lanka, you can walk around and sightsee in the evening time. Overnight stay will be at a hotel in Ella town
