Itinerary

When you arrive in Sri Lanka, you will be able to find one of our representatives from Next Travel Sri Lanka at the Arriving Lounge of the Colombo Airport paging your name. Once your identity is confirmed, you are all set to begin this wonderful tour on this splendid island. We will begin this fantastic vacation by traveling to Sri Lanka's Cultural Triangle! And yes, the visit to the Sigiriya Rock Fortress would be the day's highlight. Some consider Sigiriya to be the world's eighth wonder. You'll see why once you see the magnificent place. This incredible rock formation rises 200 meters above the surrounding plains. During the 3rd century BC, Sigiriya was used as a monastery. King Kasyapa used this location as his fort and palace complex later in the 5th century. The "Sigiriya Apsara or Damsels of Sigiriya" paintings you observe there give color and charm to the Rock. The magnificent surroundings of Sigiriya, as well as its water gardens, will add to the delight of your visit. A hotel in the Cultural Triangle Region would be your home for the night.
This tour's second day would start with a delicious breakfast. Then, you would be heading to Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka's second historic capital city, which has several well-preserved relics of palaces and monasteries dating back over three centuries. In addition to stone monuments, you will see various brick constructions, temples, statues, lagoons, and stupas that were improved by past kings. Besides, the Parakrama Samudra also known as "Ocean of Parakrama '' is a massive man-made lake in Polonnaruwa that was constructed during the reign of King Parakramabahu. So, spending a few hours there would surely magnify the delight of your visit. Then in the afternoon, you would be heading to Medirigiriya. As you might already know, it is a remarkable archaeological site located a few miles west of Polonnaruwa. A vast monastery complex called Medirigiriya Vatadage stood here during the Anuradhapura period, and the Medirigiriya Watadageya is the premier destination today (ancient structure). Here you may also observe a well-preserved medicine boat. Following this wonderful exploration, you would return to the hotel at Sigiriya for an overnight stay.
On the third day of this tour, you would be traveling to Dambulla. To be specific, you would be visiting the Dambulla Cave Temple, which houses five cave temples built into the side of a massive overhanging rock. Many handcrafted statues of Buddha and his devoted follower Ananda, as well as Hindu gods, can be found throughout the temples. Inside the temple, there are fifty or more Buddha statues, including a life-size granite one, as well as a modest stupa encircled by 11 seated Buddhas. Paintings portraying early Buddhist historical events and murals with traditional Buddhist forms adorn the cave ceiling and walls. So, all these things together make your visit worthwhile, by revealing to you the grandeur of the Sri Lankan culture and traditions. Following this visit, you will then be checked into the hotel in Wasgamuwa, and you will be visiting the Wasgamuwa park afterward. The mixed deciduous and coniferous forest, grasslands, and wetlands that make up the park will surely amuse your eyes. You'll spend the night in Wasgamuwa, with accommodation and meals provided.
Following a flavourful breakfast, you would be heading to the scenic city of Kandy on this day. On the way, you would also get a chance to visit a Spice Garden in Matale, to see the many various types of spices for which Sri Lanka is known. Visitors are welcome to stroll through the gardens, and meanwhile, you can get to know a lot about these wonderful plants. Apart from that, you can have an Ayurveda therapy using natural materials from the garden! Then you would continue your trip to Kandy- the last Sinhalese kingdom and home to many of Sri Lanka's cultural treasures. And believe us! Kandy is Sri Lanka's second most popular tourist destination. You can also witness the best of Kandy, as well as the Sri Lankan lives, as you take part in the city tour around the charming Bogambara lake of Kandy. A visit to the Temple of the Tooth Relic - the most significant religious and cultural attraction of Buddhists, as well as the Cultural Dance show in the evening would offer you the perfect ending for the day. Overnight stay would be at a hotel in Kandy.
On the fifth day of the tour, following a delicious breakfast, you would be journeying to the magnificent Royal Botanical Garden, located in Kandy's suburb of Peradeniya. The stunning Orchid collection and the attractive landscapes out there, the plethora of floral plants, and the large collection of medicinal plants and spices are sure to enhance the value of this visit. Next, you would be traveling to one of Sri Lanka's best-known attractions, which is none other than the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. There are currently about 100 elephants here, all of whom are well-acquainted with their curious human visitors. Bathing and feeding hours of elephants are popular among tourists and you too can witness this amazing sight if we reach there at the respective time slots. Later, we would continue our journey to Nuwara Eliya, the hill country's heart. En route, you would also be stopping at a tea factory to see how Ceylon tea is made. The night will be spent in a hotel in Nuwara Eliya.
This day’s breakfast will be an unforgettable one because you will be visiting the Horton Plains Nature Reserve! Upon arriving at this land of greenery, you can start on a guided tour with a local naturalist guide after collecting your breakfast parcels from the hotel. This National Park is one of a kind on the island; it is both beautiful and eerie, and it provides a world unlike any other in Sri Lanka. Besides, the sudden ending of the hilltop, known as 'World's End,'  provides the visitors with one of the best viewpoints on this splendid island. And why not? The wildlife species, endemic and migratory birds, as well as the flora and fauna in this land make up a wonderful environment worth exploring. So, after enjoying this amusing experience, you would begin your ride to Kitulgala, where you would be spending the night.
The seventh day of this tour offers you much excitement, as you would be able to go on white water rafting at Kitulgala on this day (A minimum of two people are required, and payment must be made directly). Following this thrilling, yet enjoyable activity, you would be heading to the Sinharaja Tropical Rainforest, which has global and biological importance. The Sinharaja Rainforest is the last sustainable section of the major tropical rainforest on this Island. More than 60% of the tree species found here are unique, and many are vulnerable. There is also a lot of endemic fauna, particularly birds, and the reserve is home to almost half of Sri Lanka's endemic animals and butterflies, as well as a lot of insects, reptiles, and uncommon species. So, a trek at Sinharaja indeed promises you a bunch of wonderful experiences, especially if you are a nature lover. Overnight stay would be at a hotel in the Sinharaja area.
The morning hours are dedicated to observing the Sinharaja Tropical Rainforest Reserve There are no roads for vehicles in the forest, so you'll have to rely on your own strength to go around. Trekking at sunrise is a favorite activity for both locals and visitors to the habitat. Besides, the reserve is home to 139 different species of birds, making it an excellent destination for bird watching. Following this exploration, you would be leaving for Ella in the afternoon. From breathtaking hiking trails and waterfalls to tea estates, to discovering about Ella's rich cultural past intimately, there's something for everyone in this beautiful mountain town. Little Adams Peak, Ella Gap, Bambaragala Peak, and Rawana Ella Falls, are among the pleasurable places with spectacular views, in the town of Ella. Besides, a visit to Nine Arch Bridge is particularly inspiring due to the bridge's unique environment. Overnight stay would be at a hotel in Ella.
You will get a chance to trek and climb the majestic mountains along the slopes of this small-town area in Ella after breakfast on a gorgeous misty morning. Then you would be heading to Udawalawe, the island's third most visited National Park! Yes, it is home to a diverse range of flora and animals, aided by the existence of the lake, as well as the accompanying wetlands, woodlands, and grasslands. The park's most well-known inhabitants are the park's 400 elephants. However, it is fairly uncommon to encounter entire herds of adults and young elephants during a visit. Still, we can promise you many for sure! Besides, the park's northern section is home to macaques and monkeys, while the southern section is home to water buffalo and other types of deer. So, a visit to the land creates ample opportunities to explore the Sri Lankan wildlife at its best. Overnight stay would be at Udawalawe.
You will depart from your hotel after breakfast and travel to the country's south-east area. In the afternoon, you'll go on a safari in Yala National Park, where you'll get to see the wild side while riding about in a jeep. The Park is divided into five sectors, two of which offer guided 4x4 safaris to guests. While you may come to see the leopards, Yala's diverse geography provides considerably more opportunities for wildlife encounters. The Asian elephants, as they stomp through the bush in family groups, are not subtle beasts. Sloth bears, on the other hand, are difficult to spot, but your guide will be able to point out their claw marks, which are visible in the park's trees. Crocodiles can often be seen soaking in the sun, and jackals and spotted deer emerge from the underbrush. So, all these amusements would offer you wonderful memories for your travel diaries! Overnight stay would be at the hotel with dinner included.
On this day, after having your delicious breakfast, you would be heading to your beach hotel in the South of Sri Lanka. Your route will lead you all along the coastline, and you will be able to observe stilt fishermen at Weligama, particularly if you are staying in Unawatuna. However, the beach hotel you stay at would have scenic surroundings, and thus, the cool breeze coming from the seas, coupled with these attractive sceneries are sure to make your beach stay more wonderful than you could ever imagine.
The twelfth day of this tour is dedicated for you to relax by the charming shores of Mirissa. As you might already know, Mirissa is one of the most famous beaches in Sri Lanka, well known as a tropical paradise with fluffy light sand and blue sea encircled by an arm of coconut trees. The bay swings gently across to the east, meeting up with the roar of the Galle-Matara Road. The west side is the loveliest and has the widest length of the beach. A popular photo spot near the center of Mirissa Bay is a sandbar that connects to a small island that you may walk to at low tide. Besides, Mirissa is perfect for many water sports. Surfers will like the right point break on the western end. And why not? You may also go whale-watching since Mirissa is one of the best destinations in the world for this wonderful activity. So, all these fascinations would make your day at Mirissa more interesting! You will be able to spend your night at a beautiful beach hotel.
On this day, you would be directly traveling to Galle after your breakfast at the hotel. As you might already know, Galle is a gem in the crown of Sri Lanka. This ancient city, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a joy to stroll through, and eternally interesting old trading harbor with majestic Dutch-colonial structures, historical mosques and cathedrals, grand houses, and museums. So, exploring this iconic town itself will provide you with a wonderful experience. Then you would be heading to Colombo, the commercial capital of Sri Lanka, and a must-see destination! It's no longer simply the big capital you must pass through on your route to the beaches; it's a great place to begin – or end – your Sri Lankan experiences. Visiting the Lionel Wendt Theatre, the World Trade Centre, Independence Square, St. Paul's Church, the Elphinstone and the Tower Hall, The National Museum, Pettah, and the Colombo Fort will all be on your schedule. Finally, you will be arriving at Negombo, a little coastal town, located within a distance of 10 kilometers away from Bandaranaike International Airport. Negombo is a far simpler place to find your Sri Lankan feet than Colombo, with a multitude of decent hotels and restaurants to suit all budgets, friendly local people, an interesting historic neighborhood, and a respectable beach. You will spend your night at Negombo.
The final destination of this journey would be the Muthurajawela Marsh, which is a little-known jewel of a wetland in Negombo's lagoon's southern end. A boat ride out there allows visitors to witness 75 different bird species, such as purple herons, cormorants, and kingfishers, monkeys, as well as crocodiles, and even some very uncommon otters. Following this wonderful visit, this tour that offered you a bunch of amazing memories would end.  After all, we believe that this tour package features the best of the island, satisfying the true flavors.
